🙏Prayer during testing: A prayer for times in life when you find yourself stuck in the desert. As you travel in your own desert water is hard to find. You make think certain things you find are the wate you are looking for, only to find it is bitter. His living water is the only thing that satisfies…Not things of the world, money will always buy more, but more is not Living Water. More is bitter water, it fills you with longing for more to drink and increases your thirst. When you fill your cup with anything but his abundant water it leaves you parched, longing for more, and never fulfilled. When you find yourself here, countless stories throughout the Bible show the people cry out. So today CRY OUT TO THE LORD, the Lord will show You what to do and your bitter water will become good water. You will see him perform miracle after miracle. He will give you rule and instruction during your testing. His promise is this if you listen, do what is right, pay attention to his commands, and keep decrees: HE IS THE LORD WHO HEALS YOU. So where ever you find yourself today, however broken you find yourself, no matter how far you have fallen, go to Jesus, repent, and he will not only lead you through the testing but he goes ahead and behind you as you travel. He will never leave you. He came into this world as a babe with nothing to begin his great redemption story. Why did he come this way, because he knew More was less, and his ways are not our ways. He came not to live with More, he came to redeem and pay the price our sin. He came so that you may have life, and life more abundantly…to give you abundant life even in the desert.
I praise you for testing God
Because your ways are perfect
I cry out and ask that you listen to my cry
I praise you that you cause me to hunger
I humble myself before you
Thank you for teaching me I do not live on bread alone
But every word that comes from your mouth
I praise you that you will preserve and feed me with manna
You test me Lord
Do leave me Lord
I will run after your commands
You broaden my understanding
I pray that when you seek to know everything in my heart
You will find I obey
Help me to love you with all my heart and soul
I embrace you promises
I believe you can raise anything from the dead
I praise you that you test me
you refine me like silver.
You bring me into prison with burdens on my back.
You let people ride over my head;
I go through fire and water,
but I know you are bringing me into a place of abundance.
According to your promises, oh God
Help me to persevere under trial because,
To stand the test,
I praise you that I will receive the crown of life that you Lord promised
Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!”
“Here I am,” he replied.
Reasons we are tested:
✝️To see if we have Faith (will we go forward into the unknown and act believing God will do the Impossible).
✝️So we know He alone is the Lord who Heals.
✝️So that we know we do not live on bread alone but every word that comes out of the mouth of God
✝️To instill the fear of God to keep us from sinning
✝️To see whether we love him with all our heart and soul
✝️To see if we will obey him
✝️His Word says “God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart”
✝️To refine us
✝️So That we embrace his promises and believe he will do the impossible
✝️To teach us to persevere under trial
Scripture that teaches why he tests:
Waters at Marah: Exodus 15:22-27
Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water. When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah. ) So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?”
Then Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink.
There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test. He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.”
Threw: Supernatural connotation of throwing, the act of believing knowing that God will make the supernatural occur
2 kings 6:6 Elisha cut a stick and threw it there, and made the iron float.
2 Kings 2:21-22
Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.’” And the water has remained pure to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.
2 Kings 4:41
Elisha said, “Get some flour.” He put it into the pot and said, “Serve it to the people to eat.” And there was nothing harmful in the pot.
God tested: Exodus 16:4
Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.
Rain down Bread from heaven: Deuteronomy 8:3-4
He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.
God tested: exodus 20:20
Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”
God tested: Deuteronomy 13:3-4
you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.
God tested: Judges 3:1
These are the nations the Lord left to test all those Israelites who had not experienced any of the wars in Canaan
They were left to test the Israelites to see whether they would obey the Lord’s commands, which he had given their ancestors through Moses.
2 Chronicles 32:31
But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon to ask him about the miraculous sign that had occurred in the land, God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart.
God tested: Psalms 66:10-12
For you, God, tested us;
you refined us like silver.
You brought us into prison
and laid burdens on our backs.
You let people ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but you brought us to a place of abundance.
God tested: Hebrews 11:17-19
By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.
God tested: James 1:12
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
